Specification defining a consistent JSON format for HTTP APIs. Panel's mixed take: in the basics it is humble and has much to like, but it lacks a file-upload standard and its libraries in Ruby are problematic. Following JSON API religiously is a bad idea — better to use it with company-established exceptions. The spec's creator is now active on operations (a plugin-style extension announced at EmberConf five days before the panel) that will solve long-standing gaps like uploads and batch operations. New approach: operations are optional plugins rather than mandatory spec features. Strong benefit: the spec doubles as documentation, which speeds up team onboarding.
