Gamsjaeger's team uses 'regression' more abstractly than the common 'a regression is a bug'. A regression is anything that puts the system into a worse state — e.g. a commit violating established rules regresses codebase quality even if no client notices. The goal is for every commit to be an improvement; regressions will still land, but the process minimizes them.
