Observation from Tomas's OpenTelemetry lightning talk: schemaless databases are a terrible choice as the transactional database of an application, but they're actually a great fit for telemetry — logging, monitoring, tracing — because you don't know up front which data you will gather or how you'll aggregate and correlate it in the future.
